Haleakala National Park

Haleakala National Park establish in 1916 is located on the eastern Maui Island in Hawaii. It Covers an area of 116sq km(44.8 sq mi).Apart from the breathtaking beauty of the place it has Puu Ulaula Observatory, a satellite-tracking station that attracts tourists from all over.The Haleakala Crater the world's largest inactive volcanic crater is also found on the park's premises.Haleakala, which means "house of the sun"was  revered by Hawaiians as a spiritual center for centuries,and the remains of an ancient stone road have been found in the crater.Visiting tourists get to see colored cinder cones of a large variety that rising from the crater floor have fallen on the foot of the crater.The surrounding area is sparsely vegetated due to the heat of the crater.

But rare variety of plants like sandalwood tree, Hawaiian snow(a lichen),and the rare silversword are found here.
