Amboseli National Park was part of Masai Amboseli Game Reserve in 1948.It is located in southern Kenya in East Africa.In 1974, a little more than 10 percent of the reserve was establishedas the Amboseli National park.It covered an area of 151sq mi (392 sq km).Apart from Lake Amboseli the park has open plains,thorn-bush country,and acacia woodland.It abounds in wildlife such as black rhinoceros,hippopotamus,masai giraffe buffolo,oryx,gerenuk,impala,gazelle,baboon,lion,cheetah and elephant.
